Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday arrested Rabindra Kumar Barik, a Junior Accountant in the office of the District Manager, Odisha State Civil Supplies Corporation (OSCSC) Ltd., Sundargarh, in connection with a disproportionate assets (DA) case. He will be produced before the Court of the Special Judge, Vigilance, Balasore.
According to Vigilance officials, Barik was found to own assets disproportionate to his known sources of income following searches conducted at multiple locations linked to him.
The assets allegedly include a multi-storeyed residential building, a triple-storeyed market complex with a gym, and a Kalyan Mandap in Balasore town, besides another building in Baripada town.
Vigilance officials also detected four valuable plots in and around Balasore, gold ornaments weighing about 175 grams, bank deposits amounting to Rs 43.81 lakh and other valuables. Barik reportedly failed to satisfactorily explain the source of these assets.
In this connection, Balasore Vigilance Police Station Case No. 19/2025 has been registered against Barik under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Further investigation is underway.
Earlier on Monday, Odisha Vigilance launched simultaneous searches at five locations in Balasore and Sundargarh districts on the basis of search warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Balasore. The searches were carried out by teams led by three Deputy Superintendents of Police, six Inspectors and other supporting staff.
The search locations included Barik’s triple-storeyed residential building at Gopalgaon in Balasore, a market complex and gym at the same locality, a Kalyan Mandap in Balasore town, his office premises in Sundargarh, and his rented residential house in Sundargarh.

Vigilance officials said searches are continuing and further details will be shared as the investigation progresses.
