Only ‘three monkeys’ will be left in BJD: Brahmagiri MLA Upasna Mohapatra

Brahmagiri MLA Upasna Mohapatra on Monday launched a scathing attack on the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), using 'three monkeys' analogy to criticise the party’s current situation.

Referring to a series of resignations, suspensions and expulsions, Upasna said that leaders are leaving the BJD and joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) one after another. If this trend continues, she remarked, only 'three monkeys' would be left in the BJD - one party supremo, one leader from Tamil Nadu, and one coastal leader.

Targeting the BJD leadership, Upasna said the party is witnessing a phase of suspensions and disciplinary actions, while the BJP, on the other hand, is entering a phase of political consolidation through new entrants.

Her comments have added fuel to the ongoing political debate in Odisha amid a spate of defections and internal turmoil within the BJD.

"Following resignations, suspensions and expulsions, only three leaders will remain in that party (BJD), including one from Tamil Nadu and another coastal leader. Mahatma Gandhi spoke of three monkeys symbolising the principles of 'see no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil'. However, the BJD’s approach appears quite the opposite. They cannot see anything good for the state, cannot hear anything good about the government, and will not speak anything good about it. Therefore, I will refrain from saying anything further about them. Let suspensions in their party continue just as leaders continue joining our party," said Brahmagiri MLA Upasna Mohapatra.
