In a bid to enhance operational production efficiency and reinforce transparency through digital monitoring of mineral despatch, Sudhansu Mohan Samal (IAS), Managing Director of Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC), conducted a two-day review visit to iron ore mines in the Barbil region on Monday.

He was accompanied by Director (HR) Shri Alok Kumar Pal, Director (Finance) Bana Bihari Pani, and senior officials from the Head Office. The visit aimed to assess production performance, despatch mechanisms, and preparedness for capacity expansion across OMC’s major mining operations.

Day 1: Review Of Guali, Banspani And Jilling-Langalota Mines

On the first day, the Managing Director reviewed operations at Guali, Banspani, and Jilling-Langalota Iron Ore Mines and interacted with Mines Managers from all Barbil region mines, including Guali, Banspani, Jilling-Langalota, Gandhamardan, Tiringpahar, Roida C, Unchabali, Khandbandh, and Dubna-Sekradihi.

The review emphasised team building, coordination, and timely resolution of operational challenges to ensure higher iron ore production compared to the previous fiscal. At Guali and Banspani Mines, the focus was on improving transparency in grade-specific ore despatch, enhancing accuracy and accountability in ore quality and movement, and strengthening digital monitoring systems.

Emphasis On Expansion And Safety Measures

At Jilling-Langalota Mines, deliberations centred on operational readiness and despatch preparedness to support the 12 million tonne production capacity expansion. The discussions highlighted efficiency, safety, and sustainable operations as key priorities.

Day 2: Strengthening Production Targets

On the second day, Samal reviewed operations at Roida C, Tiringpahar, Khandbandh, Unchabali, and Dubuna-Sekradihi Mines. The focus remained on achieving higher production targets and streamlining ore despatch systems to sustain momentum toward meeting the sales target for the current fiscal.
