Odia hockey player Anmol Ekka on Thursday returned to a hero’s welcome in Odisha after making the nation proud by winning a bronze medal at the Indian Junior Men’s Hockey World Cup. Following the team’s remarkable achievement, Anmol came back to his native place, where he received a warm and enthusiastic welcome from family members and villagers.
Anmol Ekka hails from Farsadhipa village under Kesramal Panchayat in Rajgangpur block of Sundargarh district. A defender in the Indian junior men’s hockey team, Anmol played a crucial role in the tournament. The Junior Men’s Hockey World Cup was held this year in Tamil Nadu, where the Indian team delivered a strong performance to clinch the bronze medal.
