Paradip Port today celebrated its 65th Foundation Day, marking an important milestone in the history of one of Odisha’s major ports.

Participants, including youths and fitness enthusiasts, took part in the marathon to celebrate the port’s legacy and promote the message of health and unity. Officials of Paradip Port, local residents and port workers also joined the event, making the celebration vibrant and meaningful.

Paradip Port was established on January 3, 1962, and has since played a crucial role in strengthening Odisha’s and India’s maritime trade. The foundation stone of the port was laid by India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, highlighting its national importance at the time of its inception. The port was later formally inaugurated on March 12, 1966, by the then Prime Minister of Yugoslavia, Petar Stambolić.

The Chairman of Paradip Port, P. L. Haranadh, said, “Every year on the foundation day, we organise a marathon event, and this time 336 people have participated. I congratulate the staff, exporters, reporters and all stakeholders on this auspicious occasion.”

Over the decades, Paradip Port has emerged as a key hub for handling bulk cargo and has contributed significantly to industrial growth and employment generation in the region. On the occasion of the foundation day, port authorities highlighted ongoing development works and reiterated their commitment to improving infrastructure and services.
