‘Odisha’s development stalled for 20 years’: Amit Shah’s sharp attack on previous govt Photograph: (OTV)
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday targeted the previous government led by Naveen Patnaik during his address in Bhubaneswar and alleged that the former Biju Janata Dal (BJD) government treated the people’s mandate as a compulsion rather than a blessing.
He claimed that despite ruling the state for nearly 20 years, the previous government stalled the development of Odisha and did little to promote the cooperative sector and dairy industry.
India Emerging Fastest-Growing Economies
Shah added that due to the blessings of the people, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured victory in all 20 Lok Sabha seats in the state. According to him, the current government has shown a new direction for development and empowered citizens, while India is now emerging as one of the fastest-growing economies in the world.

The Union Home Minister also strongly criticized the Indian National Congress, accusing the party of pushing the country’s politics in a negative direction. Referring to a recent incident at an AI conference in Delhi, Shah alleged that Congress leaders staged a protest by removing their jackets, which he said brought embarrassment to the country on the global stage.
Congress Writing Own Story
He further remarked that through such actions, Congress is writing its own story of political decline.
“The previous government in Odisha treated the people’s mandate as a compulsion. After ruling for 20 years, it stalled the state’s development and did little for the cooperative and dairy sectors. I want to tell them that a mandate is the blessing of the people. With your blessings, we won all 20 Lok Sabha seats and have shown a new direction of development while empowering citizens. Today, India has become one of the fastest-growing economies in the world. Unfortunately, Congress is pushing the country’s politics in a negative direction. Their protest at the AI conference in Delhi embarrassed the nation globally. Through such actions, Congress is writing the story of its own political decline,” said Amit Shah in Bhubaneswar.
