Bhubaneswar: Odisha's Covid-19 tally crossed 3000 mark with a spike of 146 new cases on Tuesday. The total confirmed cases in the State now surged to 3140.

Of the new cases, 127 were in quarantine and 19 local contacts, according to the State Information and Public Relations Department.

Khurda district reported highest 19 coronavirus cases followed by Ganjam (18), Jagatsinghpur (8), Balasore (7), Sundargarh (7), Deogarh (5), Mayurbhanj (3), Kalahandi (3), Nayagarh (3), Keonjhar (2), Cuttack (2), Kandhamal (2), Kendrapada (2), Bolangir (1), Malkangiri (1), Jajpur (1) and Dhenkanal (1).

As many as 61 NDRF and ODRAF personnel who were engaged in rescue and restoration works in West Bengal after cyclone Amphan and recently returned to Odisha have tested positive for the virus, the I&PR department informed.

State Fire Services DG Satyajit Mohanty also informed that 12 fire services personnel from Odisha who returned from Kolkata after Cyclone Amphan restoration works have tested positive for Covid-19.

The cumulative sample tests in the State stand at 182384. As many as 1993 persons have recovered from the disease in the State so far, bringing down the active cases to 1136. The State also witnessed nine deaths due to the virus so far.
