Bhubaneswar: A 63- year-old person, who had earlier tested positive for COVID-19, died while undergoing treatment in hospital. The deceased belongs to Khurda district. With this, the total COVID-19 death toll in Odisha has reached eight.
As per State Health and Family Welfare Department, the 63-year-old male was a chronic patient of diabetes with other underlying comorbidities.

Earlier, the COVID-19 death toll in Odisha rose to seven after a 85-year-old man of Ganjam district, who had returned from Surat, succumbed to coronavirus on May 21. He had hypertension with other co-morbidities.
Of the eight deaths, three casualties have been reported from Ganjam, four from Khurda and one from Cuttack.
130 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the last 24 hours, taking Odisha's tally to 2608 on Friday. A highest of 23 positive cases were reported from Cuttack, followed by 22 cases each from Khurda and Mayurbhanj districts.
The total active COVID-19 cases in Odisha has reached 1117 while 1481 persons have already recuperated from coronavirus infection.
