An Odisha youth gave a new lease of life to others even after his death through organ donation, leaving behind a strong message of humanity and compassion.
The youth, identified as Sambar Swain, was a resident of Sorishamuli village under Bidipur panchayat in Jagannathprasad block of Ganjam district. He was working as a migrant labourer at a textile mill in Surat, Gujarat.
According to sources, Sambar sustained critical injuries after accidentally falling from a staircase two days ago. He was rushed to a hospital, where he underwent treatment. However, doctors later declared him brain dead.
Following the confirmation of brain death, Sambar’s family took a courageous decision to donate his organs. With their consent, his kidneys and lungs were donated to help save the lives of other patients.
Doctors at a government-run civil medical hospital successfully retrieved the organs after completing all necessary medical procedures. Medical officials said the donated organs would provide a new lease of life to multiple recipients.
After the organ donation process was completed, Sambar’s mortal remains were sent to his native village for last rites.
The gesture has been widely appreciated by doctors and local residents, who said Sambar would live on through the lives he saved.
