Odisha youth climbs atop telecom tower; fire services team in a fix

A tense situation unfolded in Tarbha town of Subarnapur district on Thursday after a youth climbed a high telecom tower and refused to descend, leaving fire service personnel and locals struggling to persuade him.

The incident occurred behind the Marwadi Dharamshala, where Sumit Sahu, a resident of Sunaripada, climbed a tower and remained at the top for an extended period. As the situation escalated, locals alerted the fire services, who rushed to the spot.

Despite repeated efforts by fire service officials and local residents, Sumit refused to listen to their appeals. Even after prolonged counselling and requests, he did not come down from the tower.

Eyewitnesses said that Sumit was seen talking to someone on his mobile phone while standing atop the tower. However, it remains unclear to whom he was speaking or whether the conversation was linked to his actions.
