Angul witnessed a gruesome murder on Wednesday night after a woman was allegedly murdered by her daughter-in-law with the help of her own mother. The incident occurred at Khalari Gadapada Sahi, under the jurisdiction of Angul Sadar police station, triggering panic in the locality.
The deceased has been identified as Kuni Nayak. Her son, Kahnu Nayak, has lodged a complaint alleging that his wife, Sarita Sahu, along with her mother, assaulted and killed his mother. Based on the complaint, the police have detained Sarita Sahu and her mother for questioning and have launched an investigation into the matter.
According to Kahnu Nayak, there had been frequent disputes between his wife and his mother over domestic issues. He stated that on the night of the incident, after returning home from work, his wife informed him that his mother was sleeping in the adjacent room. However, when he went to check, he found his mother lying in a pool of blood with a deep head injury. She was already dead by the time he reached her.

“After my meals, I left for my shop. I returned at around 10 and asked my wife if my mother had eaten or not. She told me that she had chest pain and went early to bed and asked us not to wake her up. However, I went to check on her and found her in a pool of blood. My wife and my mother-in-law have killed my mother as there was no one else in the house,” alleged the woman’s husband.
Upon receiving information, Angul Sadar police reached the spot, seized the body, and sent it for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death. The police are also questioning the accused and examining other possible angles related to the crime.
