According to sources, many devotees had visited the hill to offer prayers on the auspicious occasion. A narrow cave passage through the rocks is a common route used by visitors during the ritual. While attempting to pass through it, a woman named Sujata Meher got stuck midway, creating panic among other devotees.

Soon after receiving the information, a team of fire services personnel reached the site and launched a rescue mission to bring her out safely. Local authorities and villagers also joined the efforts. Eyewitnesses said the cave’s tight space made the rescue extremely challenging. The incident has drawn significant attention in the locality.

“People were seen praying for Sujata’s safe recovery,” an eyewitness expressed.

“After tireless efforts, the fire brigade safely rescued the woman. Following the rescue, she was taken to Padiabahal hospital for treatment. She had got stuck in the narrow cave while going to the temple for offering prayers,” the eyewitness said.

Worth mentioning, earlier in another incident, a woman had got trapped inside the lift at a government-run hospital in Titilagarh town of Bolangir district before being safely rescued by the fire services team on July 9 this year, averting a potential mishap.

The mishap had raised concerns among staff and visitors at the hospital, who gathered near the lift during the rescue. Firefighters had used mechanical tools to open the jammed door and were able to safely extricate the woman after striving for nearly an hour.
