Odisha Vigilance on Friday arrested Siba Mallick, OAS, Tahsildar of Mahakalpada, for allegedly possessing disproportionate assets (DA) to the tune of 190% over his known sources of income.
During searches conducted at multiple locations linked to Mallick, the Vigilance officials unearthed four buildings, seven valuable plots, deposits worth Rs 18 lakh, Rs 1.55 lakh in cash, and several other movable and immovable assets. Mallick failed to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding these properties, leading to his arrest.
A new case, Cuttack Vigilance PS Case No.31, dated 09.10.2025, has been registered against Mallick and his spouse under Sections 13(2) read with 13(1)(b)/12 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. He is being forwarded to the Court, and the investigation is continuing.
Earlier, Mallick was arrested on September 24, 2025, in connection with a bribery case (Cuttack Vigilance PS Case No.29 dated 23.09.2025) for allegedly demanding and accepting a Rs 20,000 bribe from a complainant in exchange for facilitating the eviction of an illegal structure on government land.

Following his earlier arrest in the trap case, Vigilance had conducted simultaneous searches at multiple premises, which later revealed the large-scale disproportionate assets leading to his fresh arrest. Vigilance officials have stated that further investigation is underway.
