In a major infrastructure push, the Odisha government is set to take up the repair and upgradation of 700 kilometres of key roads across the state, announced Works Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan on Saturday.
The Minister announced that the tender process for these projects will begin within the next 10 to 15 days. The initiative aims to improve road connectivity and quality across various regions. The Minister stated that the tendering process will be completed by December and January, after which the actual construction and repair work will commence.
As part of the project, several roads will also undergo widening and strengthening. Furthermore, in Bhubaneswar, specific measures are being planned to address growing traffic congestion, including the expansion of busy roads and junctions.

“We have already begun the process. Tender process for some have already been released, while the process for the remaining will be done in the next 10-15 days. Approximately 700km of road is under tender process as of now, be it for upgradation or for repair works and development. We have decided to upgrade or repair all the major roads in Odisha, including decongestion of Bhubaneswar,” informed Prithiviraj Harichandan.
“This is a major step toward enhancing road infrastructure and easing urban traffic in the state capital and other major areas,” added Minister Harichandan.
The move is expected to significantly boost road safety, reduce travel time, and support economic development through improved transportation networks.
