According to sources, Nayak was picked up from Paralakhemundi and brought to Bhubaneswar for further interrogation. Notably, this is the first action of CBI ever since it launched its probe into the scam.

Earlier, the Crime Branch arrested 12 persons in connection with the case. With this arrest, the total number of arrests mounted to 13.

The central probing agency had earlier taken four persons on remand for three days for questioning. Similarly, on December 2, the CBI took Arabinda Das on a two-day remand for detailed interrogation. Arabinda, who had been in charge of the Digha model centre, was questioned extensively regarding his alleged involvement in the examination irregularities.

Sources said Nayak is one of the close associates of mastermind Shankar Prusty. 

Moreover, four officers of the Odisha Police Recruitment Board (OPRB), including a DSP rank officer, are believed to be under CBI scanner in connection with the case.

Sources also indicated that the CBI may soon seek the remand of Suresh Nayak for further interrogation as part of its ongoing investigation into the recruitment scam.
