The OdishaPolice Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment scam case will be formally handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), informed Crime Branch Director General Vinaytosh Mishra. 

As per reports, he confirmed that all updated case files and evidence will be transferred once the CBI takes charge of the investigation. Mishra said that the Crime Branch will co-operate and provide details regarding inter-state links associated with the case, as the CBI is better equipped to handle such multi-state investigations.

Crime Branch DG Vinaytosh Mishra stated, “CBI has been ordered that when their officials come, we will hand over the case and they will then carry forward the investigation. Due to inter-state ramifications, the government decided to take this measure as the CBI would be able to handle this case better. We cannot make statements based on assumptions as this could hamper the case. Whatever information we have provided to the media is based on evidence that we gathered. We will give further information based on any new evidence that we find.”

Government Hands Over Case to CBI

As per reports, the Odisha Government has decided to hand over the SI recruitment scam case to the CBI. Earlier, CM Mohan Majhi had suggested handing over the case to the CBI.

However, questions have been raised regarding the delay in the investigation being taken forward by the agency. Sources indicated that the delay could be procedural, as the CBI must first form a dedicated team, issue formal requisitions, and register a fresh FIR before commencing its independent investigation.

Focus on Pending Investigation and Missing Suspect

Nearly a week after the transfer, the absence of significant progress has drawn attention. The Crime Branch has so far been unable to trace the alleged prime suspect, identified as Shankar Prusty, who has reportedly fled to Dubai.

With all case files and evidence set to be transferred, the CBI will likely soon take over the responsibility for further investigation into the alleged irregularities in the Odisha Police SI recruitment process, as sources said.
