The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) intensified its probe into the Odisha Police sub-inspector recruitment examination scam, with questioning of aspiring candidates. On Tuesday, several more candidates appeared before investigators to present their versions. The agency began recording statements to gather first-hand accounts and assess the extent of alleged irregularities linked to the recruitment process.
On Monday, the CBI interrogated 10 aspirants. The questioning is part of a broader effort to reconstruct how the alleged scam operated and identify all those involved.
Notices Issued To 150 Aspirants
The CBI issued notices to 150 aspirants, asking them to appear at the agency’s office in phases. Investigators are collecting detailed information from the candidates, and the inputs received will determine the future direction of the probe. According to sources, many of the summoned aspirants were allegedly associated with the ‘deal’ under investigation.
Over the past three days, around 30 candidates were questioned. The agency is also closely monitoring candidates who have not appeared despite being summoned, suspecting that some of them may have played a role in the scam and allegedly brought other aspirants into it. Such individuals are likely to face further action, including possible arrest, as sources said.
Focus On STL, OPRB And Official Involvement
According to sources, crucial details related to Silicon Tech Lab Private Limited (STL) and the Odisha Police Recruitment Board (OPRB) are expected to emerge during the ongoing interrogation. The statements of the aspirants reportedly revealed that some officers of the OPRB were also associated with the scam.
The CBI’s key objective is to ascertain whether any government officials were involved, how they communicated with the accused, and whether assurances were given to aspirants regarding selection. Investigators are also examining how aspirants were contacted and convinced that the alleged arrangement would succeed.
Chargesheet Already Filed
Earlier, the CBI had filed charge-sheets against the accused in connection with the case. The scam has triggered widespread concern, as the alleged irregularities have raised serious questions about transparency and integrity in the recruitment process.
