In the presence of SP Vivekanand Sharma, a special police team verified the ownership documents of the complainants and formally handed over the recovered mobile phones. The initiative was carried out after sustained technical tracking and investigation by the police team.
Officials said the recovery reflects the district police’s commitment to using technology and coordinated efforts to trace lost property and provide relief to the public. Many of the mobile phones had been missing for a considerable period.
The beneficiaries expressed their appreciation for the proactive efforts of Khordha Police, praising the Department for restoring their lost devices and boosting public confidence in law enforcement.
Khordha Police stated that such drives will continue in the future to recover lost property and strengthen trust between the police and the community.
“We had launched a drive to recover the mobile phones that were either stolen or reported missing. A comprehensive list was prepared, and the cyber cell was accordingly instructed to locate the mobiles,” the Khordha SP said.
“The cell had recovered around 28 mobile phones. Following which, a Mobile Mela was held today, and the gadgets were returned to their rightful owners,” the SP stated.
“We are also aggressive on bike theft cases. Tracking of mobile phones is comparatively easier as they have the IMEI and CDR options. But, bikes do not have any such option and are a little bit difficult to recover. In the past days, we had recovered a good number of bikes after I joined the district police,” the senior cop expressed.
