In an unusual and embarrassing development for Odisha Police, two officials from the Alakunda Police Station in Jajpur district were transferred after engaging in a physical confrontation over the preparation of a chargesheet on Thursday. The incident has raised serious concerns about internal discipline within the force.
IIC and ASI Shifted to District Headquarters
The Superintendent of Police (SP) ordered the immediate transfer of IIC Debashis Satpathy and ASI Prakash Singh to the district headquarters. The decision came after reports confirmed that both officials were involved in a heated dispute that escalated into a physical altercation while handling a case chargesheet.
SDPO Initiates Inquiry
The Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) has begun an inquiry into the incident. The SP stated that further action would be taken based on the findings of the investigation, signalling that disciplinary measures may follow.
The confrontation between the two officers over routine police procedure has highlighted the need for greater professionalism and internal accountability. As the inquiry progresses, the department aims to restore discipline and ensure such incidents do not undermine public trust in the policing system.
