In a continued crackdown on narcotics trafficking, Puri Police demolished on Tuesday three houses belonging to Tiki Khan, the son-in-law of alleged brown sugar dealer Sukanti Panda. Earlier, on December 4, four houses linked to Sukanti Panda were razed as part of the same anti-narcotics operation.

The latest demolition was carried out in Nilachakra Nagar, where two of Tiki Khan’s houses were brought down using JCB machines. The action is part of an ongoing campaign by the police to dismantle the assets and influence of drug traffickers operating in the region.
Under ‘Operation Chakra’, the law enforcement agencies have intensified efforts to curb the illegal drug trade by targeting properties allegedly built with the proceeds from narcotics business. Police officials said such actions would continue in the days ahead as a deterrent against organised drug networks.
However, no comments were received from the local police in this regard.
Worth mentioning, earlier, the Puri Police had carried out a demolition drive targeting the house of brown sugar peddler Sukanti Panda at Nilachakra Nagar, on December 4, marking the first such bulldozer action after similar operations in Bhubaneswar.
According to sources, Sukanti Panda is currently lodged in jail after she had been arrested for allegedly selling 200 grams of brown sugar.
Police had said that the previous demolition was part of Operation Chakra, the district-wide crackdown aimed at making Puri ‘narcotics-free' through simultaneous raids, surveillance and property-related actions against repeat offenders.
Decision to remove the illegal structure followed verification that the house had stood on government land. The demolition was finalised after obtaining the necessary administrative approvals, officials involved in the drive had expressed.
