‘Improved Administrative Efficiency Behind Proposal’

According to the Minister, the highest number of proposals has been received from Bargarh, Ganjam and Koraput districts. The demands are largely based on the need for improved administrative efficiency, better public service delivery and faster implementation of development programmes.

This development comes shortly after the government invited proposals for the formation of new districts during the 2026–27 financial year. As informed earlier in the Assembly, memoranda demanding the creation of 31 new districts have already been submitted to the government.

The twin proposals for new districts and sub-divisions have sparked discussions on administrative restructuring in the state. Supporters argue that smaller administrative units would help decentralise governance, strengthen law and order management, and ensure quicker response to local issues.
