Bhubaneswar: The evaluation of Odisha matric answer copies will start from May 20 while the result will be published by July end, informed School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash on Saturday.

After a high-level meeting held today, Dash informed that the evaluation of matric copies will be taken up at 60 centres across the State and social distancing norms will be strictly followed during the process. The evaluators (teachers) will reach concerned evaluation centres by May 19, and get special incentives in view of the extra ordinary situation arising out of the COVID-19 pandemic, he said.

“Regarding evaluation centres in containment zones, a final decision will be taken after discussion between the concerned district administration and the Board of Secondary Education (BSE),” said Dash.

Dash further informed that adequate steps will be taken to ensure drinking water and other facilities at the evaluation centres in view of the heat wave conditions prevailing in the State.

The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) will soon inform concerned evaluators so that they can reach their respective evaluation centres as per the schedule.

“Efforts are on to increase the number of evaluation centres and evaluators so that the process is completed at the earliest,” Dash added.

Earlier, the Board of Secondary Education had decided to conduct phase-wise evaluation of the answer papers from March 19, but it was cancelled due to coronavirus pandemic and subsequent lockdown.

The Board had also planned to rope in 16,000 evaluators to check High School Certificate answer papers of 5.61 lakh students appeared for the matriculation examination held between February 19 and March 2.

On the other hand, Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ has informed that the pending Class 10 and 12 CBSE exams, which were postponed due to the COVID-19-induced lockdown, will be conducted from July 1 to 15.

“CBSE will hold remaining class X and XII exams between 1 and 15 July 2020. The information regarding details of the subjects for which exams will be held is given in press release dated 1.4.2020 issued by the CBSE. Date sheet for the rescheduled board’s examinations shall be communicated by the board through its website and press release soon,” the Board said.
