Bhubaneswar: The State government on Saturday announced to set up more centres for evaluation of this year’s Matric Exam answer sheets while maintaining social distancing. The development comes at a time while Odisha is mulling to resume certain activities by gradually easing COVID19 lockdown restrictions.

School and Mass Education (S&ME) Minister Sameer Dash informed that even though the board exam paper hubs which were demarcated prior will remain same, more evaluation centres will be set up in designated areas to reduce the strength of evaluators in each centre and ensure social distancing amid SARS-nCoV pandemic.

“Paper evaluators will be sent to other schools nearby the hubs where they will have ample space to check the copies without worrying about COVID infection due to social distancing issues. After checking the papers, the answer sheets will once again be dispatched to hubs. In order to make it successful, the State government has decided to increase the number of evaluators,” said Dash.

As per the government, teachers who are in the waiting list as evaluators will be engaged in the paper checking process to ensure hassle-free completion of the evaluation.

Dash mentioned that if everything goes as per the plan, the Board of Secondary Education can publish the annual 2020 Matric Exam results within 45 days of the commencement of the evaluation process.

The S&ME department has announced that textbooks of class 9 and 10 for the upcoming academic session will be available in zonal offices of Cuttack, Balasore, Berhampur, Sambalpur and Bhubaneswar. The books will be sent to other zonal centres from Cuttack board office, sources said.
