Cuttack: Elaborate arrangements have been made to prevent question paper leak and malpractice during the upcoming Class X examination starting February 19, informed Board of Secondary Education, Odisha (BSE) Secretary, Srikant Tarai today.
“Altogether 5, 60, 905 students will appear for the matriculation examination this year. A teacher from each school has been asked to visit their concerned exam centre to facilitate identification of their respective students,” Tarai said.
The BSE secretary further said that a nodal supervisor or exam observer will be engaged in all the 2,888 examination centres across the State to ensure the question sets safely reach schools.
The board has also restricted mobile phones in examination centres.
“The exam observer will be present during checking to ensure students do not carry mobile phones into the examination centres. The invigilators and centre superintendents will also not be allowed to carry mobile phones,” the BSE Secretary added.
Earlier, the BSE authorities had informed that CCTV cameras will be installed in 1000 sensitive exam centres.
Recently, there were allegations of errors in the admit cards of Class-X students in Ganjam district. As per reports, lapses were found in the admit cards of as many as 72 students of Takarada Sahid High School under Sheragada block in the district. Several admit cards of the students are reportedly carrying photographs of other candidates.
Besides, State School and Mass Education department's plan for zero failure rate (Zero F) in the annual HSC Examinations this year also came under scanner after free books meant for Class-10 SC/ST students were distributed on February 15 – just three days before the commencement of the exams.
This year, the BSE has set up 307 nodal centres and 61 evaluation centres for the exam. The exam will begin on February 19 and conclude on March 2, 2020. The answer sheets will be evaluated between March 18 and April 10.
