The Odisha government on Saturday released Science textbooks in Odia for Class 11 students. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi formally unveiled four textbooks, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics, for students enrolled in the Science stream.
This move is reportedly an initiative of a long-term plan to strengthen learning outcomes by enabling students to study and prepare for examinations in a language they are most comfortable with.
Focus On Odia-Medium Learning
Officials said the newly released textbooks are expected to benefit students who prefer Odia as the medium of instruction and wish to appear for examinations in the language. The initiative is intended to make Science education more accessible and inclusive, particularly for students from Odia-medium backgrounds.
The move is also expected to help reduce language barriers often faced by students while studying complex scientific concepts, thereby improving comprehension and academic performance.
Support For Competitive Exam Preparation
Odisha School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond said the textbooks would serve as important reference material, including for students preparing for competitive examinations.
“Four books in the subjects of Mathematics, Biology, Physics and Chemistry have been published in Odia. These will definitely be helpful as reference books. Students preparing for competitive examinations in Engineering and Medical fields will now be able to study in the Odia language, which will be beneficial for them,” Gond said.
