The Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET) has informed the authorities of 12 government-run medical colleges, including Talcher and Phulbani, to initiate necessary preparations. An official letter issued by the DMET-Odisha Prof Dr SK Misra includes specific instructions for submitting detailed information, which is required for the development of infrastructure to accommodate the additional seats.

The Health Department has confirmed that an application will be submitted to the National Medical Commission (NMC) seeking approval for the 502 additional PG seats. This move is aimed at enhancing medical education infrastructure in the State as well as increasing opportunities for advanced medical training for students.
