Murder Allegations
“My son has been killed. We were in regular contact with him, and he never had any kind of problem. I had sent some money to the college; they accepted it but have not issued a receipt so far. My son was killed late last night, yet no one from the college informed us. We came to know about the incident from others at around 3 pm. Later, his uncle contacted a lecturer to understand what had happened. He was a first-year diploma student in Metallurgy. I spoke to him at around 12:30 pm, and so did his sisters and other family members. He told us that his examinations were going on, a few papers were left, and that he would return home on December 24 once the exams were over. I want strict action to be taken,” alleged Nirupama Acharya, the mother of the deceased student.
Tension at the Spot
Following the incident, tension prevailed at the hostel premises as students and locals gathered demanding justice. Korei police were seen pacifying agitated people and maintaining law and order.
The tragic death has cast a shadow of grief over the college campus and raised concerns over student wellbeing in hostels.
