Odisha is witnessing a slight respite from the recent cold wave, with night temperatures showing a gradual increase after days of severe chill.
As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the intensity of the cold, which had gripped the state in recent days, has weakened since Tuesday and may reduce further from Wednesday.
The weather office has predicted a gradual rise in temperatures over the next three days, with an expected increase of 2–3 degree Celsius across the state. However, residents in interior, northern, and southern districts are likely to continue feeling the cold in the mornings and nights.
In the past 24 hours, Phulbani recorded the lowest temperature at 8 degree Celsius, while Rourkela experienced relatively higher cold due to local weather influences. Despite the warming trend, early mornings and late evenings remain chilly, prompting residents to continue taking precautions.
Officials have advised the public, particularly the elderly and children, to avoid prolonged exposure to cold winds and to dress warmly. Health experts have also cautioned against seasonal illnesses as temperatures fluctuate across the state.

With a moderate rise in temperature expected, citizens can anticipate some relief from the intense cold over the next few days, although localised pockets may continue to experience lower readings.
