Official sources stated that the new project will play a crucial role in regional development while preserving the cultural and religious significance of Maa Tarini’s shrine.

The CM arrived at Ghatagaon by aircraft at around 10.00 AM and from there he proceeded in a bike rally to reach Maa Tarini Temple. Firstly, he offered the final oblation (Purnahuti) in the ongoing Yajna (havan) on the temple premises. After this, he laid the foundation stone for the Ghatagaon temple development project.

Following the event, the CM addressed the people present at a public meeting in Ghatagaon Mini Stadium. The police and local administration had made extensive arrangements for this.

“When demand for Ghatagaon parikrama prakalpa was raised during the previous (BJD-led) government, a fund of Rs 50 crore was then announced for the project. After assuming the office (BJP coming to power in Odisha) and having Darshan of the goddess, I had announced another Rs 50 crore for the shrine’s development,” the CM said.

“When we started preparing a detailed project report (DPR) for the proposed development with a total announced fund of Rs 100 crore, I did not find any trace of the previous (BJD-led) government’s Rs 50 crore. Interestingly, the announcement was only made, but there was no file relating to this and no provision of funds,” the CM stated.

“A DPR for the mega development project with an estimated cost of Rs 312 crore has been prepared. Funds will never be a bottleneck for the goddess’s shrine development. Requisite funds will be allocated for the beautification and development,” the CM added.
