Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday laid the foundation stone for 471 new panchayat offices across Odisha and disbursed the first instalment of financial assistance to 48,693 beneficiaries under the Antyodaya Gruha Yojana.
The twin programmes were held at the Chief Minister’s Conference Hall in Lok Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar through a virtual ceremony connecting officials and beneficiaries from multiple districts.
The Chief Minister formally inaugurated the construction of 471 new Gram Panchayat offices under a state-level infrastructure initiative aimed at improving administrative outreach and service delivery in rural areas.
First Antyodaya Gruha Yojana Instalment
During the same event, CM Majhi released the first instalment of assistance to 48,693 beneficiaries covered under the Antyodaya Gruha Yojana, excluding those from Kalahandi and Nuapada districts.
The scheme, which provides housing support to vulnerable families, entered its third phase on Sunday.
In the first phase, 60,000 beneficiaries were included, followed by 50,000 beneficiaries in the second phase. The current phase adds another 48,693 beneficiaries who will now receive their first instalment of financial aid.

Eligible Categories Under the Scheme
According to government guidelines, eligible beneficiaries include individuals with over 40% disabilities, widows, and patients suffering from severe ailments such as kidney disease, heart ailments, cancer, or tuberculosis.
Families of martyrs, recipients of the Padma Shri award, and those who have lost their homes in natural calamities like floods, cyclones, or fires are also included. Additionally, families affected by elephant attacks resulting in deaths or house destruction are eligible under the Antyodaya Gruha Yojana.
