Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday unveiled 109 development projects worth over Rs 600 crore for Rayagada district, giving a major boost to infrastructure, social welfare and economic growth in the region.
The Chief Minister was addressing the Subhadra Shakti Mela in Rayagada town, where he inaugurated 22 projects with an investment of more than Rs 238 crore and laid foundation stones for 87 projects valued at over Rs 366 crore. The projects span key sectors including roads and bridges, healthcare, education, and women's empowerment.
During the event, Majhi also laid the foundation stone for the upgradation and beautification of Maa Majighariani Temple, a prominent religious site in the district, at an estimated cost of ₹37 crore.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister announced that indoor stadiums will be developed in all blocks of Rayagada, following demands raised by local legislators and public representatives. He said the government is focused on strengthening education, healthcare and transport infrastructure, and added that a proposal to set up a medical college in Rayagada is currently under active consideration.
On industrial growth, Majhi said Hindalco will expand its operations in the district with a proposed investment of ₹15,000 crore. He also noted that projects by Vedanta Alumina Refinery and Utkal Alumina International, along with other industrial units, are expected to come up in the region, generating large-scale employment opportunities. He assured that 80 per cent of jobs in these industries would be reserved for local youth.

Emphasising women's empowerment, the Chief Minister said more than 1.52 lakh women in Rayagada are currently associated with 12,783 self-help groups (SHGs). During the 2025–26 financial year, SHGs received nearly Rs 200 crore in loans, in addition to revolving funds and community investment support, to strengthen livelihoods and financial independence.
The Chief Minister said the government remains committed to ensuring inclusive development and equitable growth across Rayagada district.
