In a significant pre-bypoll development, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi visited Nuapada district on Monday and made several major announcements.

As per reports, CM Majhi declared Khariar Road as a Municipality, while Komna and Sinapali were announced as Notified Area Councils (NACs).

The Chief Minister also inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for various welfare projects worth Rs 1,101 crore for the Nuapada district.

Addressing a massive public gathering at the Mini Stadium, he inaugurated 109 projects constructed at a cost of Rs 64 crore and laid the foundation stones for 39 new projects worth Rs 159 crore.

Additionally, CM Majhi promised irrigation projects worth Rs 802 crore to boost agricultural development in the region.

"There has been a demand to upgrade the Komna block as NAC. There was a requirement for a Sub Registrar's office in the Komna block. I have announced its implementation. Komna block is going to get the 'double dhamaka' of the double-engine government. I announce the Komna block as an NAC from today. You were demanding the upgradation of Khariar Road NAC to a Municipality. I had promised it to you. Our government believes in work rather than rhetoric. I announce the upgradation of Khariar Road NAC to a Municipality and Sinapali to NAC," said CM Majhi.
