Secretaries from all departments attended to review progress on development projects, budget expenditure, and filling of vacant government posts.

Focus on Vacant Posts and Appointments

A major focus of the meeting was on the number of vacant positions across departments and measures to ensure timely appointments. A letter issued yesterday by the Department of Home Affairs highlighted the posts that need to be filled as a priority. The Chief Secretary emphasised that appointments should be made in line with directives from the Chief Minister and the state government, ensuring that key positions are not left unoccupied.

The state government has set an ambitious target to generate approximately 1.5 lakh government jobs within the next two years. Initiatives are already underway, as evidenced by the 13 Nijukti Melas held recently and the distribution of appointment letters to candidates.

The meeting aimed to ensure that all vacant positions are filled systematically and that developmental projects progress as planned, supporting both governance efficiency and employment generation goals.
