Defence and Aerospace Manufacturing in Odisha
The Cabinet announced that defence and aerospace equipment will be manufactured in Odisha. An investment of Rs 17,250 crore is expected, which could generate employment for nearly 20,000 youths, according to the Chief Secretary.
"Today 12 proposals were approved from 10 different departments. The first proposal pertained to the Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department. During an earlier Cabinet meeting, a new cadre titled the Odisha Cultural Development Service had been created, and approval was sought for its implementation, which was cleared today. Under this service, 33 out of 66 posts have already been filled, promotion avenues have been formalised, and specific responsibilities have been outlined to promote and expand Odia language, literature and culture," said Odisha Cheif Secretary Anu Garg.
"The second proposal was from the Industries Department, which approved the establishment of Kalyani Group’s integrated new-age manufacturing complex at Gajamara in Dhenkanal district. The project will begin with a specialty steel plant and later expand into a super alloy facility. The focus is on value-added manufacturing within the state. The integrated automotive, aerospace and defence equipment manufacturing complex will produce components locally, reflecting Odisha’s push towards high-value manufacturing. The project is expected to generate over 12,000 high-value jobs," she added.
