The scheme is designed to promote higher education among girls and provide long-term financial security for those from underprivileged backgrounds.

“One of our government's goals under women empowerment is to ensure that every girl completes her education up to the undergraduate level. For this purpose, I propose to launch a new scheme named ‘Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana’,” the Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said in the Assembly.

“Under this scheme, a savings instrument of Rs 20,000 will be created in the name of girls born into economically disadvantaged families. Upon completing their graduation, they will be provided with an amount of Rs 1,00,001,” the CM expressed.

“To further strengthen women's empowerment and welfare, I also propose the initiation of a new scheme, ‘Subhadra Shakti Sambad’. This scheme will serve as a participatory platform to share the experiences of Subhadra beneficiaries and strengthen the grievance redressal mechanism through regular discussions with officials and community beneficiaries to resolve issues,” CM Majhi stated.

Besides, to eliminate regional imbalances in development, Rs 500 crore was proposed for the Western Odisha Development Council (WODC), Rs 200 crore each for the Southern Odisha Development Council (SODC) and North Odisha Council (NODC), and Rs 250 crore for infrastructure development in KBK districts.
