The winter session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly commenced on Thursday with an obituary reference to former members of the House.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi moved the condolence motion, and the Assembly observed a one-minute silence in their memory.
Following the tribute, the House was adjourned till 4 PM.
On the second day of the session, the state government is expected to present the Supplementary Budget. The winter sitting will continue till December 3, comprising a total of 29 working days.
Ahead of the session, the Speaker chaired an all-party meeting, urging both ruling and opposition members to cooperate and ensure that the winter session proceeds smoothly. Leaders from all parties participated in the discussion.
President Murmu To Address The Assembly
President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to address the House today at 4.30 pm, marking a significant moment for the session. This is going to be the first time that a sitting President will address the Odisha Assembly, marking a historic moment in the state’s legislative proceedings.
According to reports, after delivering her address, President Murmu will spend some time in the Assembly’s Room No. 11, a chamber that served as her office when she was an MLA and held positions in the Fisheries Department and Transport Minister between 2000 and 2004.
