Tight security arrangements have been put in place in Nuapada as the nomination process for the by-election began on Monday. The district administration has intensified vigilance to ensure a smooth and peaceful poll.
As per reports, to facilitate a secure electoral environment, a joint meeting was held between police officers of Odisha and Chhattisgarh. Officials and SDPOs from Bagbahara, Mahasamund, and Gariaband areas of Chhattisgarh, which share borders with Nuapada, attended the meeting along with IICs and SDPOs from the neighbouring districts of Kalahandi, Bolangir, and Bargarh. The discussion focused on border security measures, Maoist control, and the exchange of intelligence between the two states.
Tight Vigil Along Border Areas
Security enforcement along the inter-state border has been intensified. 16 roads connecting the border areas are now manned by police personnel from both Odisha and Chhattisgarh. Several checkpoints have been established at various locations, where vehicles are being subjected to thorough inspections.
Continuous Deployment and Preventive Measures
Police forces are deployed round the clock to maintain law and order. The measures aim to prevent criminal activities and restrict the movement of narcotics and illegal money across the border ahead of the bypoll. All vehicles, including two-wheelers, are being carefully checked to avert any untoward incidents.
