Ahead of the crucial Nuapada bypolls in Odisha, Congress candidate Ghasiram Majhi was seen emotionally pleading for votes by falling at the feet of the people. As the by-election campaign for Nuapada kicks off today, Majhi has taken an unconventional approach, travelling from village to village, holding gatherings and passionately asking for support.
The most striking moment came when he was seen tearfully begging for votes, bowing before women of the Gond community, a powerful display of his commitment to the cause. His heartfelt appeal has certainly added a dramatic twist to the campaign trail
While the Congress announced its candidate, both the BJP and the BJD are yet to announce their candidates. With this early start, Congress has moved ahead in campaign activity, giving its candidate a head start in voter outreach. However, the final outcome will depend on the voting scheduled for next month.
BJD Reviews Candidate Options After Dholakia’s Exit
The recent shift of Jay Dholakia to the BJP has reportedly affected the BJD, as he was considered a likely candidate for the Nuapada by-election. Following his move, several senior BJD leaders visited Nuapada to review the situation and assess potential candidates. According to reports, they are expected to submit their survey findings to party supremo Naveen Patnaik, after which the final candidate will be announced.
Probable Candidates and Key Dates Announced
Among the probable BJD candidates are Bhanu Pratap Majhi, Manoj Mishra, Sarojini Majhi, Mohammad Adam, Harish Chandra Panda, and Prasanna Padhi. Meanwhile, both BJD and BJP leaders have started campaign activities even though official candidates have not been declared.
