Nuapada is gearing up for a high-stakes bypoll with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress already announcing their candidates. However, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) remains undecided.
With BJP’s Jay Dholakia and Congress’s nominee Ghasiram Majhi already in the fray, all eyes are now on the BJD to declare its candidate for the crucial constituency.
Despite several meetings and deliberations, BJD has not officially announced its candidate, even though sources suggest that Manoj Mishra has been tentatively finalised. The BJD leaders have been holding intensive discussions at party supremo Naveen Patnaik’s residence in Bhubaneswar. Sources said senior BJD leaders, including Babi Das, Tukuni Sahu, and Snehangini Churia present during the deliberations today.
Three aspirants, Manoj Mishra, Bhanu Pratap Singh Majhi, and Avani Joshi, are scheduled to meet Patnaik in the afternoon to present their proposals. Following these consultations, the final decision on the BJD candidate is expected to be made soon, paving the way for an official announcement.
