Biju Janata Dal (BJD) candidate Snehangini Chhuria on Thursday made it clear that she is committed to contesting the upcoming Nuapada by-election, a day after being selected as the candidate by the Conch party and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik.
Addressing allegations of being called an outsider, she stated firmly that winning or losing is a different matter, but she is determined to fight. She also spoke on concerns raised by the Opposition and dismissed claims of being an outsider and stated, “I am not an outsider.”
Speaking to the media, she revealed, “I was part of the committee that selected the candidate, and with everyone's consensus, I was chosen. The people of Nuapada support me, and my community stands firmly with me.”

Launching a scathing attack on Jay Dholakia, an opponent in the fray, Chhuria accused him of compromising the legacy of his father.
“Jay Dholakia has betrayed the pride of Dholakia 'Bapa' and sold his honour. He does not deserve any sympathy,” she said.
Moreover, commenting on the exit of senior leader Lambodar Nial from the BJD, Chhuria downplayed its significance, saying, “His departure will have no impact on the party or the outcome of the election.”
No comments were received from Jay Dholakia or the BJP in this regard.
The political battle in Nuapada is heating up as major parties prepare for a closely watched bypoll. With strong words and sharp accusations, the campaign is expected to intensify in the days to come.
