Addressing the issue of road safety, the Transport Commissioner said stringent action would be taken against motorists found flouting traffic and safety norms. He urged vehicle drivers to strictly follow road safety rules to prevent accidents and ensure safer roads.

As part of the initiative, the Transport Department has already held discussions with petrol pump owners and fuel dealers across the state. They have been directed to prominently display information related to Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates at their outlets, encouraging vehicle owners to comply with pollution norms.

“Those who do not have a pollution (PUCC) certificate will not get fuel. We have made the decision after a meeting with oil marketing companies and petrol dealers. Every outlet will put up banners advising riders of PUCC. Next year, from January 1 to Jan 31, we will observe the National Road Safety Month when the checks will be more frequent. So, we still have 10-12 days, so get your PUCC certificate ASAP,” informed Amitabh Thakur, IPS, Transport Commissioner-cum-Chairman, STA.

Petrol pump outlets will also put up notices advising motorists to obtain valid PUC certificates. Emphasising compliance, the Transport Commissioner stated that there is still sufficient time for vehicle owners to get their PUC certificates updated before the enforcement drive begins.

The move is aimed at improving road safety, reducing pollution, and ensuring strict adherence to motor vehicle laws across the state.
