Nandankanan Zoo turns housefull as Year 2025’s last sunday draws huge crowds

The Nandankanan Zoological Park in Bhubaneswar witnessed an overwhelming rush of visitors on the last Sunday of the year 2025, turning the popular tourist destination virtually housefull. With it being a holiday, people flocked to the zoo to spend quality time with their families and loved ones.

Tourists from Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and various parts of Odisha were seen in large numbers. Adding to the crowd, several visitors from outside the state and even from abroad also reached Nandankanan, making the atmosphere lively and festive.

“Since the zoo is very large, we could not cover all the areas. However, we saw lions, tigers and many other animals and birds. There is a wide variety of birds inside the zoo. Due to the heavy crowd and rush, we could not take the toy train ride.” said one visitor.

“The ropeway experience is very good, and the safari is also impressive. Several new attractions have been introduced for tourists, including the safari, toy train and ropeway. Different varieties of tigers can be seen here, such as panthers, Royal Bengal tigers and Asian tigers, along with various species of lions. We also saw birds like emu, ostrich, parrots and peacocks.” said another visitor.

Wildlife and Recreation Attractions

Visitors were seen enjoying close views of wild animals including tigers, lions, bears and other species housed in the zoo. The excitement was visible among children and adults alike as they explored the enclosures and captured moments with their loved ones.

Apart from wildlife viewing, ropeway rides and boating facilities emerged as major attractions. Long queues were witnessed as visitors eagerly waited to experience these recreational activities.

The zoo premises echoed with joy and enthusiasm as families soaked in the holiday spirit. The pleasant weather further added to the charm of the outing.

With heavy footfall and vibrant energy, Nandankanan once again proved to be a favourite getaway for visitors, marking the year’s final Sunday as a memorable experience for thousands.
