Mystery continues to surround the death of a Class V student of Belpada Government Primary School in Nayagarh district, even as his family intensifies its demand for justice.
The minor boy had reportedly left the school premises after having the mid-day meal, telling others that he was going to the toilet. However, he did not return. Later, on February 4, his blood-stained body was recovered from an abandoned well near the village, sending shockwaves through the local community.
Following the incident, Gania police launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the boy’s death. In parallel, the District Education Officer conducted an inquiry into the matter and subsequently suspended two teachers posted at the school.

Demanding stringent action, the deceased student’s family members have locked the school for the past 13 days. They are calling for the arrest of the two suspended teachers and seeking compensation of Rs 50 lakh for the bereaved family.
The prolonged closure of the school has disrupted academic activities, depriving other students of their regular studies. With tensions prevailing in the area and the investigation still underway, the tragic incident has left the local community anxiously awaiting clarity, accountability and justice.
