The recovery of a mutilated body from railway tracks on Tuesday near Botanda village under the Airfield Police Station limits of Bhubaneswar has triggered shock and suspicion, with the deceased’s family alleging murder.
The victim has been identified as Muralidhar Behera, alias Papu, a local builder and father of two daughters. According to family members, Papu left home at around 9 pm on Monday but did not return, raising concern. His mobile phone was later found switched off. After frantic searches, his mutilated body was discovered on the railway tracks.
While the GRP initially registered the case as an unnatural death based on circumstantial evidence, investigators have begun probing all possible angles, including whether it was an accident or a case of foul play. The body has been seized and sent for post-mortem examination, and family members are being questioned as part of the inquiry.
The family, however, has alleged that Papu’s business associate is solely responsible for his death, as he took Pappu's car. Suspicion has deepened over why a car was found parked beside the railway tracks and who brought it there.
Police are piecing together facts, examining the sequence of events, and verifying claims regarding Papu’s last movements and conversations before he left home.
As the investigation continues, the unanswered questions surrounding Papu’s death have cast a shadow over the village, with his grieving family demanding justice and clarity.
