Father of minor girl Pari, who was reportedly murdered in Nayagarh district, met Deputy CM Pravati Parida on Tuesday and demanded an immediate halt to the production and screening of an Odia film being made in his daughter’s name.

The victim’s father submitted a formal memorandum urging the State government to intervene and stop the upcoming project.
Pari’s father also held discussions with the Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan and School & Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond regarding the issue. Following this, he visited the Chief Minister’s Office to reiterate his demand for a ban on the film’s release.
He alleged that the Odia film is being made without the consent of the family and that the incident has been wrongly portrayed. According to him, the movie depicts the case as one involving sexual assault and murder, which he claims is incorrect.
Pari’s father stated that his daughter was killed for organ trafficking, but the filmmakers have allegedly presented a distorted version of events. He urged the authorities to take strict action to prevent further misrepresentation and to respect the sentiments of the victim’s family.
However, no comments were received from Pari’s father in this regard.
Worth mentioning, earlier in another incident on June 1 last year, Arun Bothra, a former Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) of Odisha Crime Branch (CID-CB) and a senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, had become the centre of a burgeoning debate following his post on the platform ‘X’ (previously known as Twitter).
Without directly taking the name of much-debated Pari rape and murder case in Nayagarh, Bothra had hinted at a tale of crime and conscience. The investigator uncovered some ‘haunting clues’ in the rape and murder case. The convicted boy’s nightmares hint at guilt.
