A motorcycle was completely gutted in a sudden fire incident at Radhanathpur village under Basudevpur block in Bhadrak district on Monday, triggering panic among locals and leaving onlookers stunned.

According to reports, the incident unfolded in a matter of seconds. A man was travelling on the motorcycle along with his son and another individual when the vehicle reportedly ran out of petrol near Gopalpur Square. In an attempt to resume their journey, they purchased a small quantity of petrol from a nearby shop and poured it into the motorcycle’s fuel tank.

However, moments later, when the rider tried to start the bike using the self-start mechanism, it suddenly burst into flames. The fire spread rapidly, engulfing the entire vehicle within seconds, leaving no time for intervention. The intensity of the blaze shocked those present in the area, creating a brief moment of chaos.

Fortunately, the father and son managed to jump off the motorcycle in time and escaped narrowly, avoiding any serious injuries. Eyewitnesses said the bike was engulfed in flames right before their eyes and was reduced to ashes almost instantly.

However, by the time the flames were extinguished, the motorcycle had already been completely destroyed. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, and further investigation is underway.

“When my son put petrol on the motorcycle and attempted to start the motorcycle using the self-start, it suddenly caught fire. We used to ride the Pulsar bike and it had no issues earlier,” said Jubaraj Maiti, the rider of the bike.
