More rain in store for Odisha! Low pressure likely to form over Bay of Bengal

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted on Thursday the formation of another low-pressure area over the southeast Bay of Bengal, around October 24. According to the forecast, the system is likely to move in a west-northwest direction and may intensify further as it progresses.

Odisha is once again likely to receive rainfall under the impact of the low-pressure system. Weather officials are closely monitoring the development, which could potentially influence weather conditions over parts of eastern India, including Odisha and West Bengal, in the coming days.

Meanwhile, the Southwest monsoon has withdrawn from the entire country today, the 16th October 2025. Simultaneously, the Northeast Monsoon rainfall activity has commenced over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema,

South Interior Karnataka and Kerala-Mahe today, the 16th October, in association with the following features: Easterly/northeasterly winds set-in over southern peninsular India, south & adjoining central Bay of Bengal in the lower tropospheric levels.

Light Rain or Thundershowers have occurred at one or two places over the district Kalahandi of South Interior Odisha, and dry weather has prevailed over the rest districts of Odisha.

Furthermore, the highest maximum temperature of 34.5°C was recorded at Jharsuguda and the lowest minimum temperature of 18.9°C was recorded at Phulbani in the plains of interior Odisha.
