Mob attack on Odisha BJP leader's house; 15 detained, probe underway

A violent attack occurred at the residence of BJP leader Shibaram Suara in Mohana, Gajapati, on Monday evening. According to sources, over 100 youths allegedly stormed into Suara's home in Chandiput village, causing destruction and assaulting family members. The incident followed a dispute between youths from Kharidhepa and Chandiput villages.

Following the attack, the police have detained and are questioning 10 youths involved in the altercation. Authorities have gathered information that Shibaram Suara was not at home during the attack. The Superintendent of Police (SP) visited the crime scene to assess the situation and initiated an investigation.

"Around 5 PM, over 100 youths arrived at my home, broke the door, and attempted to force their way inside. They threatened to kill me and even pushed my mother. I demand that proper action be taken against all the accused. The Superintendent of Police (SP) visited our house and assured us of appropriate measures," said Shibaram Suara, former District BJP Working President.

In an effort to avoid any further unrest, the police have deployed a heavy presence in the village. Officers are closely monitoring the area to maintain peace.

"Some unruly young men came to his property, knocked on the doors and windows, broke a plastic chair, and verbally abused and threatened him. We have detained 15 individuals in connection with this incident. The interrogation process is underway, and based on the CCTV footage, we are identifying all those involved. Strict action will be taken," said Jatindra Panda, Gajapati Superintendent of Police.

This attack on a political leader's home has raised concerns about local law and order. The police are committed to investigating the matter thoroughly to ensure justice for the victims and to prevent future conflicts.
