Mission Shakti women to receive smartphones; new dress code from Utkal Divas

The Odisha government has announced a major revamp of the Mission Shakti programme, aimed at further empowering women across the state. Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida on Monday informed that Mission Shakti will be given a new identity, including a change in the dress code for its members.

According to the Deputy Chief Minister, the new dress code will come into effect from Utkal Divas, marking a fresh beginning for the flagship women empowerment initiative. The move is expected to bring greater uniformity, recognition, and a renewed sense of pride among Mission Shakti members.

In another significant announcement, Pravati Parida said that Mission Shakti women will be provided with smartphones along with official ID cards. The initiative aims to strengthen digital connectivity, ease of communication, and access to government services for women associated with Mission Shakti groups.

The smartphones are expected to help women in financial transactions, digital payments, accessing welfare schemes, and promoting self-help group activities more effectively. The ID cards will serve as official identification, enabling smoother coordination with government departments and financial institutions.

The Odisha government reiterated its commitment to women-led development, stating that Mission Shakti continues to play a crucial role in economic empowerment, entrepreneurship, and social inclusion of women in Odisha.
