Miscreants ‘kill youth by slitting his throat’ in Odisha’s Bargarh, probe on

A disturbing incident unfolded in Bargarh district on Sunday as a young man was allegedly found murdered in Ghulipali locality. The victim has been identified as Chandan Kumar Rout, son of Sarat Rout from Bandutikra village.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the attack may have been carried out using a sharp-edged weapon, as his throat had been slit.

Chandan’s body was recovered by Bargarh Town police in a blood-soaked condition and was immediately sent to a nearby hospital for post-mortem examination. Police officials have initiated a thorough investigation to determine the motive behind the crime and to identify the perpetrator.

Authorities suspect the use of a bladed weapon in the killing. Forensic teams are examining the scene for clues, and officers are questioning locals to gather more information. Police are also exploring the possibility of personal disputes or enmity leading to the attack.

Officials emphasised that strict action would be taken against anyone found responsible for such a brutal act. The investigation remains ongoing, with law enforcement working to trace all leads and ensure justice for the victim youth.

Residents of Ghulipali expressed deep shock and fear following the incident, underscoring the need for increased vigilance in the area.

However, no comments were received from the local police in this regard.

“I do not know as to why he (Chandan) has been killed. This much I can say that he had a friend circle. Some of his friends had been consuming contraband items and asking him for money. He was upset over this for the last two days,” the deceased’s mother said.

“Those friends together killed my son (Chandan),” the elderly woman stated to OTV.
